Red River Dialect / awellupontheway / Vinyl LP / Lono / No catalogue#

Picture of awellupontheway
An impressive (and privately-pressed) debut vinyl LP by Red River Dialect, the Cornwall-based band of David Morris (on acoustic guitar and vocals), Simon Drinkwater (electric guitars), Jack Kindred-Boothby (bass, cello & vocals), Ed Sanders (violin & harmonica), and Hugh Cowling (drums). The band, which has recently shared stages with acts such as Hush Arbors, Hiss Golden Messenger, and Michael Chapman, takes folk-song traditions but infects them with a tense—sometimes wild, sometimes fragile--psych-edge to produce what Six Organs of Admittance’s Ben Chasny has called "some of the greatest fist-in-the-air fisherman jams since the Waterboys”. Meanwhile, Michael C. Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger compares Red River Dialect with “The Waterboys' “Fisherman's Blues”, Talk Talk's “Laughing Stock”, and Fairport Convention's “Full House”. The LP, entitled "awellupontheway", is released on the band’s own Lono imprint in a run of 100 copies.
